Hunting Methods

Trapping (Bird Snares, Box Traps, Net Traps)

The core hunting method for most creatures.

How it works:

  1. Script places traps on your configured tiles
  2. Monitors traps for catches (shaking box, caught bird, etc.)
  3. Checks caught traps to collect loot and XP
  4. Resets failed/disabled traps
  5. Drops or banks collected items based on settings

Tile Configuration:

  • Main Tiles: Primary hunting spots used when available
  • Backup Tiles: Used if main tiles are occupied by other players (anti-crash feature)

For Net Traps: Select the tree tiles where nets will be placed, not ground tiles.

Butterfly Catching

Catch butterflies within a configurable radius of a center tile.

How it works:

  1. Equips butterfly net if needed (and below barehanded level)
  2. Searches for butterflies within the configured area
  3. Catches the nearest valid butterfly
  4. Banks catches when inventory fills (if enabled)

Settings:

  • Center Tile: The point around which butterflies are hunted
  • Search Radius: How far from center to look for butterflies (1-50 tiles)
  • Bank Butterflies: When enabled, banks filled jars instead of releasing

Pitfall Trapping

Hunt antelopes using spiked pits in the Hunter Guild.

How it works:

  1. Collects logs from nearby roots (moonlight) or trees (sunlight)
  2. Sets trap on an unset pit using knife and logs
  3. Teases an antelope with the teasing stick to lure it
  4. Jumps over the pit when the antelope follows
  5. Antelope falls into the trap
  6. Dismantles the collapsed trap to collect loot

Supported Targets:

Creature Level XP Location
Sunlight antelope 72 380 Avium Savannah (above ground)
Moonlight antelope 91 450 Hunter Guild underground

Loot from Moonlight Antelopes:

  • Moonlight antlers (can be fletched into bolts at 72 Fletching)
  • Moonlight graceful fur
  • Raw moonlight antelope meat
  • Big bones

Wilderness Hunting

Hunt black chinchompas in the Wilderness with built-in anti-PK protection.

How it works:

  1. Banks at a safe location and gears up
  2. Travels to the wilderness chin hunting area
  3. Places and monitors box traps
  4. Escapes via teleport when PKers are detected
  5. Returns to bank when chin threshold is reached or after escaping

Key Features:

  • Automatic gear and inventory management
  • Anti-PK detection and escape system
  • World hopping after PK encounters
  • Configurable chin threshold to leave wilderness

Troubleshooting

"Unable to place a trap on a tile after many attempts, failsafe triggered."

Cause: The script repeatedly failed to place traps on a tile (5+ failures within 30 seconds).

Fix:

  • Verify your selected tiles are valid trap placement locations
  • Ensure no obstacles block the tiles
  • Try selecting different tiles nearby

"We are out of traps"

Cause: No traps remain in inventory or bank.

Fix:

  • Enable GE Restocking in Advanced Settings > Grand Exchange
  • Manually add more traps to your bank
  • Configure inventory setup with traps in Advanced Settings > Banking

"We are out of waterskins"

Cause: Desert hunting with no waterskins remaining (bank + inventory).

Fix:

  • Add waterskins to your bank before hunting in the desert
  • Enable GE Restocking to auto-purchase waterskins

"We have hopped too many times"

Cause: Exceeded the configured hop limit in Advanced Settings > World Hopping > Hop Limit.

Fix:

  • Increase the hop limit threshold
  • Disable "Stop after consecutive hops"
  • Hunt at a less crowded time or location

"We have to pick up our traps but don't have any inventory space..."

Cause: Inventory is full and the script needs to collect fallen traps.

Fix:

  • Configure items to drop in your settings
  • Enable dropping salamanders/loot when inventory fills
  • Bank more frequently

"We are out of inventory space and have nothing to drop."

Cause: Full inventory with no droppable items configured.

Fix:

  • Configure drop items (bones, raw meat, salamanders)
  • Enable Dropping options in Advanced Settings > Banking

"HP low - no food configured" (Pitfall)

Cause: HP dropped low during pitfall hunting but no food is configured.

Fix:

  • Configure food type and amount in the Pitfall tab
  • Bring food manually and enable the food settings

"Out of [food] in bank" (Pitfall)

Cause: Ran out of configured food in the bank.

Fix:

  • Add more food to your bank
  • Enable GE Restocking

"We don't have enough food" (Wilderness)

Cause: Wilderness trip requires more food than available.

Fix:

  • Add more food to your bank
  • Configure wilderness inventory with sufficient food
  • Enable GE Restocking

"Wilderness inventory setup doesn't contain selected trap."

Cause: Your wilderness inventory configuration is missing box traps.

Fix:

  • Go to Advanced Settings > Wilderness Trapping > Wilderness Inventory
  • Add box traps to your inventory setup
  • Ensure quantity is at least equal to your max trap limit + 1

"No tiles selected and unable to auto-recognize location."

Cause: No trap tiles configured and the script couldn't auto-detect your location.

Fix:

  • Manually add tiles using Add Current Tile or Add Nearest Tree
  • Travel to a valid hunting location before starting
  • Ensure you have appropriate traps in inventory for auto-detection

"Progressive mode is enabled but no progression entries are configured."

Cause: Progressive mode checkbox is enabled but no tasks were added.

Fix:

  • Add progression tasks using the Add Task button
  • Or disable Progressive Mode if not needed

Getting Help

If you run into issues not covered in Troubleshooting:

  1. Generate a bug report - In TRiBot: Dev Tab → Generate Bug Report (includes logs, settings, and screenshot)
  2. Post on Discord - Share the zip and describe what happened vs. what you expected at discord.gg/BFtypSSbjp

For issues that are hard to capture in a screenshot, a short screen recording helps.

Tips

  • Use backup tiles near your main tiles to automatically switch spots when crashed by other players.

  • For wilderness hunting, start at Ferox Enclave - it offers banking, prayer restoration, and HP healing all in one location.

  • Pick up traps before breaks (enabled by default) prevents losing traps during TRiBot breaks.

  • Configure hunter potions in Advanced Settings > Utility if you want to maintain a boosted Hunter level for better catch rates.

  • For moonlight antelopes, enable Fletch antlers (requires 72 Fletching) and Use large fur/meat pouches to maximize profit per trip.

  • When hunting black chins, keep the chin threshold relatively low (35-65) to minimize losses from PKers.

  • World hopping settings can help avoid competition - configure to hop when another hunter is within 10 tiles of your traps.
