TRiBot Update Status

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

The purpose of this thread is to provide a central hub to convey information about the updates that are currently ongoing to fix Looking Glass in the TRiBot client, as it is currently not functioning. I'll be updating this post as I receive new information from the development team, and we'll also be answering any questions you may have!

Here's the current situation of Looking Glass:

  • OSBuddy support was put on hold a few months ago in favour of RuneLite support. As RuneLite was much more popular, and presumably ran lighter than OSBuddy
  • Java 7 support was removed from the client, also a few months ago. This allows for advanced Java 8 features to be used, but in the process removed Looking Glass support for the official OSRS client.
  • Two weeks ago, RuneLite pushed an update to disallow clients to hook to it. This was solved with Todd's RuneLite launcher
  • Last week, RuneLite pushed an update to (as far as I know) further prevent forks of the client from working. These forked clients were (to my understanding) offering features that broke Jagex's game rules, or did things RuneLite wasn't comfortable with. Such as automatic gear or prayer switching, etc.
    • Inadvertently this update broke our ability to hook to RuneLite as well
  • The developers of TRiBot are at a crossroads as to how to proceed. Now that it is clear that third party clients like RuneLite or OSBuddy can break our ability to hook to them, the most stable option long term looks to be to hook to the official RuneScape client. However, this means re-adding Java 7 support to some degree, which will take some time
  • Currently, the developers are pursuing the solution of hooking to the official client, and are working on re-adding the necessary Java 7 support to allow us to hook to the official client again.

As of May 30th, 2019 this is where development stands, and it is the current status of Looking Glass in TRiBot. In the meantime a workaround for this issue has been discovered by some industrious users. The workaround involves downloading a browser with Java support (such as PaleMoon or WaterFox) and running OSRS in http mode, and not https mode. To do this, ensure the URL of your OSRS game starts with http and not https (if it starts with https, replace it with http). Then launch TRiBot and select Looking Glass to hook TRiBot to the browser. You can see further instructions, and learn more about this find on this thread here:

Please feel free to post any questions or concerns you have on this thread, and please monitor this thread for updates as we work on getting Looking Glass back up and running! ?

Hi everyone.
We are attempting a number of approaches.
#1 We are refactoring the LG agent in java 7 so that we can support the official client.
#2 We are attempting to diagnose the current issue with OSBuddy and determine if it's even feasible.
#3.We are looking into other clients like Runestar.

As soon as we make a breakthrough we are going to push a release. Sorry for the downtime. We have no ETA at this time. Please continue to use the work-around in the banner.

  • Our picks

    • Over the past few months, I’ve been working diligently on a new project - TRiBot X. Everything has been written from the ground up, with all of the best practices of software engineering. Every aspect of TRiBot has been re-imagined to support three main goals: flexibility, useability, and reliability.

    • TRiBot is looking to improve a lot of its customer relationship management, customer on boarding process, customer experience, design elements, community engagement and pretty much everything else you can imagine when it comes to marketing.

Our goal: To ensure that the marketing done TRULY reflects the experience and does not shine an inaccurate light on what TRiBot is lacking in.

So I ask, what do you love about TRiBot and what do you hate about TRiBot? What does O S Bot, Rune M8, PowR Bot and Dre amBot do better? (yes I purposely didn't spell it right 😂).

    • Over the last three weeks, I've been working on upgrading our server infrastructure. It's finally ready and is now live!

Increased reliability - less server errors

      Increased availability - less downtime

Increased security - keeping us and you secure

Increased capacity - ability to serve you better

Increased speed - less waiting for things to load

Faster development - server and service updates will come faster

      What are the changes?

Move from a single AWS EC2 instance to AWS ECS (Elastic Container Service)

      Distributed computing

      Load balancing

Git management of server files and filesystem

      Redis caching

AWS ECS (with 10 EC2 instances)

      AWS ElastiCache (Redis)

      AWS Load Balancing

      AWS EFS (Elastic file system)

Please bare with us as I continue to tune the server for maximum performance. Slow loading speeds may occur temporarily. I thank everyone for their patience.

Please post on this thread if you experience any issues other than slow loading times.

    • This release will:

Fix prayers and world hopper API (Thanks @JoeDezzy1 and @erickho123)

      Improve banking API (Thanks @Encoded)

Adds methods for returning and using Java Lists, rather than arrays

      Slightly randomizes some hardcoded behaviour

Removes sleeps from waitConditions; the efficiency saving potential is negligible in these use-cases, therefore cleaner code is preferable

      Other back-end improvements

Note: If you are using LG, please restart both the RS client and TRiBot.
