Chain ban on different IPs?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

So this morning I had 7 of my accounts that I was training up and 1 doing barrows chain banned, all within a minute. The thing is every account had a different IP via proxy.

Does anyone have an idea why this could have happened? The proxies were from different providers as well.

The only thing I can think of is a delayed ban on all of those accounts?

Edit: All accounts were created and only used on their own proxies.

They are banning accounts in waves, to create the illusion of a chain-ban. But just because the bans occurred at the same time doesn't necessarily mean that they are correlated with one another.

If you are positive that it was indeed a chain-ban, you should know that accounts can also be linked through their in-game trade history.

All of the accounts did trade with my mule once each, that could be it. The mule account is not banned however.

I should also mention these accounts were created Friday night. So as soon as they got in office they pressed the Delete button it seems.

@Einstein  How to do a trade-i-game and don't be flag? Like, I have to gave coins to one account, this account give money to the mule. But they are linked, how can I do this safe?

There are ways to trade gold between accounts that could prevent linking them together, but they require more time and they are not really worth doing (at least for trading small amounts). Gold sellers are moving hundreds of millions from account to account and it takes quite some time for them to get banned (if it happens at all).

Like I've said, I don't think the bans in this case were correlated. Bans are usually coming in waves, with thousands of accounts getting banned at the same time, which creates the illusion of a chain ban.

Agreed. I feel like I must've been flagged by the auto-detection system maybe? And after the weekend when they got in the office, they just banned all :(

Correct. Here are the possible reasons your multiple accounts may be banned @zanskrila

  1. Accounts are botting the same method.
  2. Accounts have trade history between each other or with a common single account.
  3. Your "different IP's" share the same subnet so it is easily identifiable that the accounts probably belong to the same person - See the screenshot below.
  4. Any two combinations of the above bullet points.

1. 5 of the accounts were on the same subnet, 4 of them were on a completely different ones.

2. They did all trade my mule once to receive GP for training (Any way to avoid linking them to a certain account and still give them gold?)

Making a new comment since I can't edit the last one.

Would trading all the gold required from Mule > Acc1, then splitting the gold between accounts help at all? eg Mule > Acc 1; Acc 1 -> Acc 2; Acc2 -> Acc3, etc..

Every trade you make is recorded. If they want to, they'll link your accounts no matter how you split the trades.

This is certainly a banwave, not a chain ban.

Every time one of your accounts get banned, so do many other peoples'. There's no connection, other than you just all got caught within the same timeframe.

Chain bans seem pretty rare. I've never gotten a chain ban, even when all my accounts are on the same IP.

People tend to worry too much about little things that in my experience don't really matter. At the moment I'm running a f2p farm (about 50 bots) on my home ip, including my automated mule. Everything gets traded over automatically and the bots get banned usually once every 24 hours and my mule has survived for months. Somebody even made a video about me 😂

Yeah, but I'm running/making p2p accounts for higher tier scripts like zulrah/barrows/revenants. So not getting banned within 24 hours is kind of a big deal.

My point is to not stress too much about chain bans. I'm getting about 50 accounts banned every day and on that same IP my mule is fine for months already (and also using a botting client).

A proxy is most likely going to increase your chance of ban, not lower it.
