Looking to expand my CPU resources - Help needed(:

Recommended Posts

I'm not really looking to getting a VPS just yet. I am looking to get a new desktop so that I can run more bots on OSRS. I want to run an A/B farm with 10 bots on each interval. Should I get a pre-built desktop or should I build one myself? Also what exactly should I get? I'm not really a computer nerd so I need all of the help that I can get. What specs should I be looking for here? All of the help that I can get is really appreciated. Thanks a lot guys!🙂

I just buy ex office PCs like a Dell Optiplex, they're around $100-$150 AUD and run 4 clients each with looking glass just fine.

I would suggest building a PC from scratch. The two important things to consider are 1) Strong enough CPU, and 2) Cheap RAM in high quantities. You don't really need a good graphics card, and could probably get away with the onboard graphics of most new CPUs if not using the PC yourself for games/videos while farming.

How much would that run me?

You'll have to scout prices yourself. Build a prototype PC that you think will be able to run 10 tribot clients, check the cost, then compare to used office PCs you find online. From there try and see what makes sense decision-wise, but know you'll either have to upgrade the office PCs yourself or buy multiple.
