Clean up the Repo and forums

Recommended Posts

Tribot looks lackluster and dead, No rs3 support, bot view panel thing doesn't work, I'm new but i was looking and it seems like stuff just has died on here, you guys should remove forums that arent used like the rs3 one until it's supported again, and clean up

Like what is most of this crap

Is tribot just slowly dying? Sure there's many great scripts and stuff and great features, I'm not saying Tribot is bad. Imo best bot I've tried from what ive seen, and I spend money here. but forum needs a big cleanup lol

We've been advocating for a cleaning for awhile, we'll see if the admins ever get to it or let someone else do it.

Pretty much this.

We all want a repo cleanup but it can take a lot of time to go through every script and make sure it works, and the admins are already very busy.

USA will remove scripts if they're reported, but he won't look through them all himself.

I attempted to start this, but the volume of scripts was a bit of a problem. As a start, it'd be helpful if people would refrain from using the public repository as a housing space for private scripts. But, as it's currently not against the rules not much can be done. I believe USA will hide all private scripts from the public listings, if they're reported? However, I cannot confirm this.

Perhaps I'll try and pickup the project in a few weeks if I have some spare time

I went through and cleaned up a bit of my scripts I had listed as public that aren't, I removed probably 10-20 scripts just now. I'm sure others have tons of scripts that are not in use anymore just sitting on the repository but if the author is inactive then they are stuck there unless the admins remove them

This should definitely be made against the rules and users that do not comply should have their right to upload new scripts revoked.

The public repository should only contain working scripts, that anyone can use.

Edit: Except for the cases in which a script is in closed beta testing, but will be publicly released after this development stage is over.

@Einstein

Was there a previous function, or a new function which allowed users to use the repo without it being public?

Or are we expected to have the script files on every computer / server we use them on?

Just share the class files.

There is a private repository listing, but I believe that's restricted for Premium Scripters, as they use it for paid private scripts.

Premium Scripters can limit user visibility for their scripts, so the private scripts are only visible for the buyer.

If you could use the above feature and nobody would be able to see the 'Not for public use' scripts, there would be no problem. Otherwise you should find another way of managing the software that powers your goldfarm.

To add to this, I would recommend an automated FTP solution, as I'm assuming you already have a web server for your gold farm. Or, if you don't, you could setup a bash/batch script to automatically sync using git, and then just have it compile the source files.

@Einstein

To add to this, if the private visibility function was available to everyone, it would make it easier for people to sell private scripts without premium scripter rank which is a reason it is not available to normal users.

There needs to be a clear written PSA / rule about the usage of the repository, from what i've gathered so far from this thread:

If you are a regular member ( VIP, VIP-E ) you can ONLY use the repository if your script is made public to everyone and you maintain it so it's up to date.

Any personal / gold farming usage must be done outside of repository.

@Fluffee

I understand and will comply with these rules, if they are rules, but I hope this will be enforced so that everyone has to comply.

Mods and admins don't seem to care, or seems like they need to hire more staff to help maintain this site. The forums are outdated and the repo needs a major cleaning, the admins even have scripts that havent been updated for years on the repo, what is this crap. The bot has so much potential, so much better than osbot and other crap bots but the admins need to step up a bit in my humble opinion

I'll see if I can get these implemented, as these pretty much align with my views on the topic. But, I'm not promising anything as the Admins need to agree also.

RS3 will not be removed from the forums, that remains for other reasons. The updated date on a script is not a good single indicator of whether or not a script works, while it can be a red flag, scripts need to be ran to indicate if they're functioning as advertised.

As for Staff not caring, well, I'm pretty sure I care. Especially I have attempted to do this alone in the past, but I lack infinite time to do this quickly. I still pick at it every now and then, but it takes a while.

This actually isn't my first response on this thread, and I'm pretty certain I'm a Mod ?

Thank you! This is exactly how I feel. I've seen so many payed scripts that didn't work when I tried them (either payed for them first, or demo), if I didn't know RS botting better I'd think it was a scam site.

If nothing else, the maintenance of payed scripts needs to be strictly enforced, and payed scripts which aren't updated should be removed and the purchasers refunded credits at the expense of the person who put the script up for sale. If a scripter puts something up for sale, advertising it as being capable of doing what they say, they should stand by their end of the bargain and deliver the advertised product. Imagine advertising a car as being in awesome shape, when really it doesn't even run, or if it does, not well. If you sold that car to someone, that person would obviously deserve to get their money back and you would deserve to get in further trouble for screwing them in the first place. Why should scripting be any different? If a car dealership sold you a car that didn't run when they advertised it as running, would you buy from them again? Admins should seriously consider the monetary loss that good payed scripts incur because the payed junk that surrounds them in the rep. gives all the others a bad name.  If people had a reason to trust that the scripts they were paying for were worth the money, I think a lot more would be purchased.

I think a lot of people get alienated by the fact that they get scammed out of their hard earned money before they figure out what scripts are worth it and which aren't. People shouldn't have to sift and winnow through the scripts if they are paying for their ride; they should be provided with the service of quality control! No regular store could stay in business if they sold faulty products at premium prices. The only reason these RS botting sites get away with it is because their competitors are all doing the same thing, no particular one is outshining the others in this area and drawing customers in from the other bots... Admins? You readin this!? I agree with CyberWizard that Tribot has the potential to outshine all the others and become the unquestionable best bot. But it needs quality control with the scripts. I personally think that a few extra bux for membership would be worth hiring some human resources to put toward this.

the repo is full of gibberish, it cant be that hard to clean it..... Tribot for real, you have so much potential what is this crap... i already reported scripts that are not working or not getting updated, but nothing happends...

The only thread where you can report outdated scripts is this one:

Since your post is not visible, you either posted in a different thread or your post has been reviewed and hidden - if that's the case and the script was not removed from the repository, it means that it was functional / not abandoned at the time of your report.

    • [READ TO THE END FOR A TEASER]

I've noticed some new TRiBotters have had some troubles finding out sources of how to do certain things, such as using advanced scripts and often get lost in the forums.

We are still getting posts asking where to start, what to do, recommended scripts, etc.

As many of you know, I am new to the team, and had troubles myself learning how to bot, let alone script.

So, what our team decided to do was make it easier to learn how to bot, how to script, and just become an overall better botter and scripter faster.

As some of you might have seen, I've posted 3 new blogs, you can check it out by clicking on the following picture or here.

These first 3 blogs are the first of many blogs that will be TRiBot official. They are encouraged to be challenged, improved upon and act as A Best Practices Guide for Botters.

What information would you like to see in the blogs?

We are going to be hosting a  CONTEST  this  OCTOBER.

Its scary to think how soon you'll find out.👻

    • Today marks a big day for TRiBot! To make it easier for users to use TRiBot, we've created installers available for every platform! These installers are all bundled with the latest version of OpenJDK 1.8 (Java 😎, which is LG compatible.

Using TRiBot is now easy. Simply download the installer for your platform, install TRiBot, and run it. The TRiBot Loader will correctly identify the bundled JDK so there's no need to change the Java selection.

      Windows

      EXE installer: TRiBot-windows-x64-4.0.3.exe

      MSI installer: TRiBot-windows-x64-4.0.3.msi

      Portable version: TRiBot-windows-x64-4.0.3.zip

      Mac OS

      Installer: TRiBot-macos-4.0.3.dmg

      Portable version: TRiBot-macos-4.0.3.tgz

      Unix/Linux

      Installer: TRiBot-unix-4.0.3.sh

      RPM installer (CentOS/Fedora): TRiBot-linux-4.0.3.rpm

      DEB installer (Debian): TRiBot-linux-4.0.3.deb

      Portable version: TRiBot-unix-4.0.3.tar.gz

      Platform Independent

      JAR file: tribot-loader-4.0.3.jar

Note that this jar file does not include the bundled JDK.

Windows and Mac OS users may notice a warning message stating that the installer/application is un-recognized or un-trusted. Please ignore this message and proceed with running the installer/application. We need to acquire a code signing certificate so that we can sign the installers letting the operating system know that these files can be trusted. It will take a week or more to acquire one, so please hold tight.

Other notable changes to the TRiBot Loader:

Support getting the version from OpenJDK distributions

      Add check for bundled JDK

Copy OpenJDK tools.jar to the bundled JDK if not present

Set the current java as the first available list entry

Ignore Java versions which are symbolic links

Make the bundled JDK the preferred Java version

      Update icon images

Reduce the number of HTTP calls

    • TRiBot is looking to improve a lot of its customer relationship management, customer on boarding process, customer experience, design elements, community engagement and pretty much everything else you can imagine when it comes to marketing.

Our goal: To ensure that the marketing done TRULY reflects the experience and does not shine an inaccurate light on what TRiBot is lacking in.

So I ask, what do you love about TRiBot and what do you hate about TRiBot? What does O S Bot, Rune M8, PowR Bot and Dre amBot do better? (yes I purposely didn't spell it right 😂).

      Love,

    • Hello TRiBot,

Today we have a significant release that has been in the works for the last month addressing several key issues, features and bugs in the backlog.

With these changes, we are also including a new TRiBot Loader which will allow you to select any version that is released. This adds the flexibility of allowing you to revert to a previous version should an issue arise, run development only builds, view an accurate change log between versions etc. we are very proud to offer this feature and think it will add a lot more functionality down the road as we continue to release new versions.

These changes include 80+ commits by our development team, a list of them is summarized below and also available for your viewing pleasure in the new TRiBot Loader.

In addition, we have taken additional steps to improve as a development team by adding continuous integration and deployment into our workflow to assist in delivering timely releases such as bug fixes as well as new features on a weekly basis depending on our development cycle.
