VPS or Dedicated?

Recommended Posts

Hey fellow botters

Looking to purchase either a VPS or a Dedicated server.

Why should I choose one over the other?

Any advice? Looking for cheap, easy access to my bots and reliable.

i know people have had issues with Virmach and VPSgamers closing down their VPS’s even at fairly low CPU usage which is I’m thinking of sticking away from them.

Is it as easy as downloading tribot onto the purchased VPS and starting Botting?

I’m looking to run 4 bots but may increase to up to 8 so what kind of spec requirements do you think are necessary?

thanks in advance for all replies!

Yaz

VPSs are chunks of Dedicated servers.

VPSs are good for starting/using a smaller number of bots.
Once you get a larger farm, a dedicated server will be more to your needs.

You'll need to know how to use to command line to setup a VPS.
Or you can try using a setup script:

Since VPSs use a shared pool of resources, all VPS providers limit the time you're allows to run the CPU over a max load.

VPSgamers gives multiple warnings & chances before shutting down your service. You should be able to run at least (often times more than) the amount of bots specified by the plan you buy.

Important: Since the downloadable RS client uses Java 7, it will no longer be compatible with Looking Glass. To make up for this, we will add support for using other clients such as RuneLite (at a later date).

This change was necessary to allow us to use Java 8 syntax. It also paves the way for Java 9/10/11 support.
