ram question

13 posts in this topic

1. using 16 gb stick with 8gb stock (24gb total) is fine?

2. using 2x 16gb with 2x 8gb (48gb total) is fine?

all the sticks are HyperX fury DDR4 2400mhz cl 15.

@NinjadGuyshould be fine, the only thing is they will all be hindered by the lowest speed RAM. The rest will be down-clocked to match the slowest stick.

For best results though you'd definitely want all the sticks to be the same capacity. Also why would you want more than 16gb?

almost reaching the 16gb with about 60% cpu usage.

32gb is overkill, 24gb seems good (my mb has 2 slots).

also in the future i might use other clients (maybe different game) which use more ram per bot.

there shouldnt be too much difference between using single and dual/quad channel in tems of performance tho, right?

i remember reading somewhere on tomshardware that it was about 4%-7%.

How many bots are you using? Just make sure you don't have a memory leak before thinking of upgrading :)

There is a formula for RAM, something like 256 + 124*(number of bots)? I know I got those numbers wrong, someone please correct me

Anyway, regardless by the looks of it you'll definitely be able to run them, assuming a good enough processor

ya i know this formula, but im planning use the comp for other games / bot clients ;)

just wanted to make sure i can run different ram size sticks, as i think 32gb is overkill and ram is pretty expensive here.

thnx :)

okay, so I have a question. do you think ram is a bigger factor compared to your processor?  personally, which would you rather have be better? @NinjadGuy

its more about balance, total comp price / amount of bots.

i7 6700k with about 24gb ram for me atm.

id aim for something like that (probably more ram tho):
