Seeing as people seem to be using this cpu with 8gb RAM, i have just a few of questions. Sorry OP, i'm not trying to hijack your thread!

1. How does an AMD FX 8350 compare to the intel i7 4770k or the 4790k in regards to number of bots smoothly run?

2. I was considering getting 16gb RAM, however i have read a lot of people saying they can run 20-30 bots on 8gb RAM. What would be the limiting factor, the processors listed above, or the 16gb RAM? Would 16gb RAM be able to support 40-50 bots with these cpus?

3. An AMD FX 8350 computer bought from ebay is something like £200-250 cheaper than an intel 4770k/4790k. Is the Price increase matched by performance/ability to run more bots or no?

Thanks for any answers in advance!

Don't get the K's unless you wanna overclock IMO not necessary to overclock lol

Also each bot uses aroudn 256mb of ram, 256 x 20 = 5.1GB now some ram is prob gnna be used by your OS and other stuff so I mean you don't really need more than 8GB of ram unless you run more than 20 bots or something then get the 16gb of ram. I highly recommend buying a i7 4770 or i7 4790 dont get the K waste of extra money frankly. Also you'll probably be able to run more bots with an intel instead of the AMD but if you're on a budget go with the AMD 8350

@Gh0sty

I really appreciate your quick response, I've been looking to buy a botting computer for a while but have been stumped on what to get for months. Do you think all 3 cpus are capable of running more than 20 bots? I would definitely get 16GB RAM if i thought the cpus could handle running 30+ bots.

These are what i have come across on ebay. The AMD seems like a steal considering it comes with two monitors (if i can convince the seller to post).

AMD fx 8350 - £400 (with 2 acer widescreen monitors)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMD-FX8350-16GB-SFF-Desktop-PC-/251794388526?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item3aa01d762e

i7 4790 - £570

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-I7-4790-Quad-Core-Fast-Office-Home-Multimedia-Pc-Windows7-1Tb-16Gb-ZT3-/141122891428?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item20db946ea4

i7 4770 - £565 (or best offer)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INTEL-QUAD-CORE-i7-4770-3-4GHZ-16GB-500GB-HD-PC-CHEAP-COMPUTER-NEW-WINDOWS-7-/251331644601?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item3a84888cb9

With the above links in mind, what would you recommend?

My max budget is around £700, however, if the AMD fx 8350 can both come close to the i7 4770/4790 performance wise and save me ~£150 then it seems like a good idea. If the 4770/4790 can run say an extra 8-10 bots, i'd spend the extra £150.

I'd say amd 8350 can run about 20-25 bots i think after like around 20 the FPS would go down a bit but still manageable

If money is an issue for you and dont wanna spend the extra cash, but the amd 8350, the price for it is really good compared to i7s but if you extra cash, go with the intel

Screw that used amd one, those monitors are older than 5 years, also that thing is used. I wouldnt buy anything used if i were you.

^^^ Buy this one all the way. I'd say get the i7 4770 but the ram on it is 1333mhz while the i7 4790 is 1600mhz so its a tad better also has bigger hard drive on i7 4790....

buy this, intel i7 4770, 10gb ram and a decent GPU also you get 2 years warranty on this bad boy..... well worth it instead of buying it off ebay mate. Costcos customer service is absolutely superb.

if you don't have a monitor, get this maybe? http://www.costco.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/cos_1,cos_1.2,cos_1.2.1/169582  only 8gb of ram but you do get a monitor with it and can probably upgrade the RAM later if you want.

anyways im off to bed. Goodnight mate.

Why would you choose the i7 4770 over the 4790, every comparison i can find says the 4790 is better, even if it is only very slightly? Also i noticed that it doesn't specify whether the RAM is 1600mhz or 1333mhz on costco, is there a noticible difference? I know you said before to pick the 4790 due to the 1600mhz RAM?

I've read that having 10gb RAM can prevent the RAM working as dual channel, which reduces it's productivity by 10%?

That second deal certainly seems like a good one though.

I think i am really starting to get a picture of the computer build that will suit my needs. Sorry for all the questions, i just want to be sure before i spend upwards of £500! Night, thanks for all your help so far!

In regards to your question about the 300mhz difference in RAM there's no a noticeable change in that little of a leap in speed. If you're planning on getting a €150 - €320 processor, you might as well get RAM sticks that are 2800mhz or something. You'd also need a motherboard that supports the ram sticks and their speed.

@Twitch @sedgy

Here's the best prices that I found for the processors on amazon:

AMD FX 8350

Intel i7-4790

As for what you should buy, it looks like the Intel processor isn't worth the extra €170. I don't see a significant difference in the Intel i7 4790 that's worth the 115% higher price. I personally would go with the AMD FX 8350. I've compared the CPUs for you here:

Intel Core i7 4790 vs AMD FX 8350

By the way, you should hyperlink any links that you post so that other members can view the website with a single click. It will also save a lot of space and keep things organized automatically.

I'm a bit late on the comment, I never usually comment here, as the hardware section is the appropriate section for this.
RAM frequencies makes ZERO difference on bots, so buy the cheapest stuff you can find because quality is never an issue.

10GB isn't a power of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 etc) which means you will be using three RAM modules as opposed to two, this means you cannot run dual channel without adding another module of RAM.
I personally would recommend running dual channel when you take into consideration that running a multitude of bots is a very multithreaded workload that needs the i/o performance.
1333MHz/1600MHz is perfectly fine, they won't affect performance.

Really I would just recommend building your own desktop, that way you get exactly what you need for a lower price.

  • Our picks

    • Over the past few months, I’ve been working diligently on a new project - TRiBot X. Everything has been written from the ground up, with all of the best practices of software engineering. Every aspect of TRiBot has been re-imagined to support three main goals: flexibility, useability, and reliability.

    • TRiBot is looking to improve a lot of its customer relationship management, customer on boarding process, customer experience, design elements, community engagement and pretty much everything else you can imagine when it comes to marketing.

Our goal: To ensure that the marketing done TRULY reflects the experience and does not shine an inaccurate light on what TRiBot is lacking in.

So I ask, what do you love about TRiBot and what do you hate about TRiBot? What does O S Bot, Rune M8, PowR Bot and Dre amBot do better? (yes I purposely didn't spell it right 😂).

      Love,

    • Over the last three weeks, I've been working on upgrading our server infrastructure. It's finally ready and is now live!

      Why?

Increased reliability - less server errors

      Increased availability - less downtime

Increased security - keeping us and you secure

Increased capacity - ability to serve you better

Increased speed - less waiting for things to load

Faster development - server and service updates will come faster

      What are the changes?

Move from a single AWS EC2 instance to AWS ECS (Elastic Container Service)

      Distributed computing

      Load balancing

Git management of server files and filesystem

      Redis caching

      How?

AWS ECS (with 10 EC2 instances)

      AWS ElastiCache (Redis)

      AWS Load Balancing

      AWS EFS (Elastic file system)

Please bare with us as I continue to tune the server for maximum performance. Slow loading speeds may occur temporarily. I thank everyone for their patience.

Please post on this thread if you experience any issues other than slow loading times.

    • This release will:

Fix prayers and world hopper API (Thanks @JoeDezzy1 and @erickho123)

      Improve banking API (Thanks @Encoded)

Adds methods for returning and using Java Lists, rather than arrays

      Slightly randomizes some hardcoded behaviour

Removes sleeps from waitConditions; the efficiency saving potential is negligible in these use-cases, therefore cleaner code is preferable

      Other back-end improvements

Note: If you are using LG, please restart both the RS client and TRiBot.
